Our Story
About
FāëM
Who We Are
Two Brothers.
One Frequency.
We are FāëM (pronounced ‘fame’), a West African DJ/Producer duo of brothers, Demi and Fapelo. Based in Lagos, Nigeria. Our sound is a unique mix of African styles and electronic music — Afro-Electronic fusion. It is a collage of our individual tastes, fused together to create a unique sound.
The Origin
We started producing music about six/seven years ago as a means to escape our reality. Music was a form of therapy that allowed us to express ourselves beyond words.
What inspired us to start creating music was house music. We are huge fans of electronic music (and the psychedelic experience it offers listeners), so we mostly drew our inspiration from our love for the genre. As the years passed, we have looked more to the past.
Our tastes expanded to classic tunes from genres like Afro Rock and psychedelic rock, fuji music, and especially exploring music from African Music Legends.
The Sound
Afro-Electronic
Fusion
Our current sound is a collage of our individual tastes and our daily musical experiences. It is a unique mix of African styles and electronic music; Afro-Electronic fusion (as we've seen fit to call it these days).
Music is a great way to connect with people, and we have found a way to reach many people by simply telling our stories in sound. We have a lot to say, and we will continue to push boundaries because that is who we are.
Join us on this journey; we promise to entertain, inform, and help you process what feels too heavy to carry alone. More than that, our music will also challenge you to think, reflect, and see differently.
